About AJRA

The Arizona Junior Rodeo was established in 1965 with the first finals held in 1967 at the Arizona State Fair Grounds, Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Our mission is:

• To promote the Christian principles upon which the AJRA was founded and to encourage members to exhibit characteristics consistent with these ideals.
• To encourage and promote the highest level of conduct, moral character, clean living and sportsmanship among all of its members and member families.
• To promote and educate others of the heritage and traditions of the sport of rodeo and the Western way of life.
• To promote the sport of rodeo for junior kids for the purposes of maintaining and/or increasing interest in the sport and to build closer relationships among people interested in this activity and the organizations they may represent.

The Arizona Junior Rodeo Association is a statewide non-profit organization that has been in existence for over 50 years. The AJRA is comprised of cowboys & cowgirls between the ages of 4-18 years and is committed and dedicated to developing Arizona’s youth in the sport of rodeo, as well as preserving the western lifestyle. We strive to build interest, understanding, and appreciation for the western life, as well as teach responsibility, sportsmanship, hard work, and family involvement.

The AJRA is truly an association for, and about the kids. Although our parents volunteer many hours to the association as directors, flaggers, timers, etc., we are substantially funded by donations. Our goal is to award our participants for their skills and strong dedication at each rodeo and at the season end with trophy buckles, saddles, and other tack.  Your sponsorship/donation will go towards these special awards as well as help to defray the costs of our rodeos which include; arena rental, rodeo equipment, insurance costs, stock charges, and much more. We cannot do it without our sponsors.

While we do have specific sponsorship levels, we appreciate any monetary or product donation.  Your support will ensure that the AJRA continues to be a positive influence in the lives of numerous children who train, compete and give their all.
